Member’s Day at Kelly’s Ford

Happy summer to everyone! We are holding our summer General Membership Meeting at our Member’s Day at Kelly’s Ford Equestrian Center on Sunday July 31st. We will have a trail ride begining at 10:00 am, Lunch and a meeting at the Pelham’s Pub about 1:30 after the ride; then we will go tubing down the Rappahonock for those that want to cool off and to see if we still float after lunch. Kelly’s Ford has horses to rent if you can’t bring your own, also the Inn may have rooms for those of you that live far and possibly want to stay a night or two. If you aren’t a member yet and want to come join us – we have spot’s for everyone! You don’t have to have an Appaloosa. See www.innatkellysford.com for directions and link to amenties provided. 2010 Elections

Its that time of year again. No, not just the Holidays, but the VaApHC
elections! We’d love to hear from all you eager volunteers that would like to be part of the success of 2010 at the Virginia App club. If you’d like to nominate someone to go on the ballot, or would like to volunteer for a position, you may send your request to Sharon at dobermom11@msn.com who will forward your information to the elections committee. Elections will be decided at the Jan 16th Banquet.

Spots-or-Not Judged Trail Ride

Its Sunday evening and we’d like to thank all the riders for coming out and supporting our trail ride! We’ll keep working on that darn computer glitch and get those categories for the breed divisions in order, so we can get those awards out to the winners. Check back for the score sheet and placing to be posted.

Its Sunday morning – for anybody checking on the status of the Trail Ride all is a go. The weather guys all say no rain until late evening, so lets Ride!

SPOTS OR NOT Judged/Non-Judged Trail Ride

Hope everyone has been getting a chance to ride and will be out to join us at the Judged or Non-judged Trail ride at Magnolia Equestrian Center Sunday April 19th. We’re watching the weather and have ordered a sunny warm day! A passing shower won’t stop us, but we do have a rain date of May 3 if we get bad weather. Check here for upates on sunday morning if you have questions. We have many sponors this year so have some nice prizes for participants. Our sponsors so far are: Sisson Excavating; The Better Hearing Center of VA; Snow Hill Farm; Tractor Supply; Double L Tack Shop; Skeeter’s Custom Leather & Tack; The Horse Barn Tack Shop; The Hitching Post Tack Shop. Spring Things

We finally have some warm weather! I hope you all are starting to get the fuzzies off the horses and those saddles and getting some riding time in. The board has been planning events, finding a new place for our trail rides, and getting organized. Everybody get your memberships in and bring your horse loving friends! We are looking into some clinic ideas – so if you have any you would be interested in, drop us a note and we’ll check it out.

The big news is the upcoming trail ride: The SPOTS OR NOT Open, Judged/Non-judged Trail Ride will be April 19, 2009 at the Magnolia Equestrian Center. The Equestrian Center is on Route 3 between Culpeper and Fredericksburg. There will be food, awards, prizes and as always, a Friendly and Fun atmosphere! Remember that members entries fees are discounted and year-end awards are available to members, so join us.

Board Meeting

Just a reminder that the board will be meeting this saturday February 28 at the Golden Corral in Massaponax (Fredericksburg) at 11:30. All members are invited to attend. If any body has any agenda items please email or call any board member. We will be discussing and planning our spring trail ride at the new venue – so stayed tuned!

Tack Yard Sale

The Stafford County Stablemates 4-H Club will be hosting a fundraiser Tack Sale on Saturday, December 13th 10:00 am – 2:00pm at the Trading Post located on 1171 Warrenton Road, Fredericksburg VA 22406.
This is a great little group of kids that we hope you can all come out to support. Tables and spots can be rented for a $10 donation to the club. The VaAphc will be there with a table selling raffle tickets for our saddle raffle. Come on out and shop!

Board Meeting

The Board will meet Saturday November 8, in the meeting room at “Great American Steak and Buffet”, 8365 Sudley Rd., Manassas, 703-369-6791, from 12:00 to 2:00. This is a board meeting but all members are invited to sit in if interested. We will be discussing the Banquet, awards, nomination committee, among other items. If you have items you would like addressed you may give agenda items to any board member. Please RSVP to Gerald by PM on WED Nov 5, so he may let the Steakhouse know our numbers.

When the score pages open, you may have to scroll up to view all the placings and scores. Novice rider 1st place was left off this attachment, it is Stephanie Ochoa with 41 points. Obstacle 10 was the tiebreaker, plus there were bonus points at obstacles 4 and 10.

Summer Sizzler – Judged/Non-judged Open Trail Ride

YES, it’s right around the corner! Our Judged/Non-judged Open Trail Ride is coming up – August 16 at Parrish Farm in Woodford, VA. Practice your skills and come out and try the obstacles, or just enjoy the 10 miles of trails with old or new friends.
