Year End Events

The year is winding down and the club is finishing up a successful year. There will be several board positions available for next year if anybody would like to help with the continued success of the club. Available positions are: President, Vice-President, Newsletter Editor, 1- Three year Board Member, and Youth Director. Send in your nominations or interests to Ron or Sharon Fiel, or Jeanne Davis.

Cut off for all Points and Saddle logs will be November 15. So send those in to Jackie.

The Awards Banquet and Meeting will be January 24, 09. The new Board members will be decided and also the Saddle Raffle will be held at that time. So mark your calendars! Detailed information will be posted later. We will also be having an Outstanding Member Award - for a member that has gone above and beyond. Please email Gerald with a cc to Robin with your nominations. Hope to see everyone there!

Board Meeting

The Board will meet Saturday November 8, in the meeting room at “Great American Steak and Buffet”, 8365 Sudley Rd., Manassas, 703-369-6791, from 12:00 to 2:00. This is a board meeting but all members are invited to sit in if interested. We will be discussing the Banquet, awards, nomination committee, among other items. If you have items you would like addressed you may give agenda items to any board member. Please RSVP to Gerald by PM on WED Nov 5, so he may let the Steakhouse know our numbers.

Sunday Ride

The ride is this Sunday Oct 19, at Petersburg National Park. Bob and Betty will be at the park headquarters at 10:00a.m. Map is available on the calendar page or park website. Just saddle up and enjoy a great fall day with club members and their great appaloosas. Betty and Bob will bring the grill and hotdogs, you may bring snacks, picnic lunch whatever you’d like to enjoy or to share. There is a weekly fee to park of $5 or yearly fee of $15. (that includes EVERYTHING at the park which is HUGE!) – plenty of parking for horse trailers. For those that would like to GPS or mapquest - the address is 1529 Hickory Road Petersburg VA. Have a great time!

The newsletter has been mailed to members. The show points have been posted but the Regional points are not correct. An updated points standing will be posted to the site soon. Thanks to all who have participated.

Chance is a 15 hand, 6 year old, beautiful, smooth-gaited and sweet Appy mare. She has a ton of trail riding experience, will go anywhere or cross anything, and is not spooky. She has also foxhunted in second flight! Chance would be an excellent mount for the occasional or timid trail rider–definitely a “husband horse” type. ”Angel” is a 6 year old, 13.2 hand Appaloosa gelding. He is athletic, quiet, cute and sweet! Angel has a lot of training in cutting, has been trail ridden extensively and has been started over fences with very cute form! When the score pages open, you may have to scroll up to view all the placings and scores. Novice rider 1st place was left off this attachment, it is Stephanie Ochoa with 41 points. Obstacle 10 was the tiebreaker, plus there were bonus points at obstacles 4 and 10.

Hope everyone is having a good summer and getting enough rain for hay fields and pasture. Reminder of the Judged Trail Ride Saturday August 16, 2008 at Parrish Farm. We need help for the table, raffles, judges, etc. Also we need riders for the club award and Top Appaloosa Award. Plenty of opportunites to work and ride.

YES, it’s right around the corner! Our Judged/Non-judged Open Trail Ride is coming up - August 16 at Parrish Farm in Woodford, VA. Practice your skills and come out and try the obstacles, or just enjoy the 10 miles of trails with old or new friends. Saddle Raffle

We have an English (australian type) and Western trail saddle for raffle at $5.00 a chance. Two chances to win. Winner gets first choice, second draw to get the remaining saddle.
