The Banquet is just a few weeks away on Jan 8th, 2011. Get your RSVP’s in to Sharon as soon as you can. We will have updated directions to send out to all who are coming (the invitation directions have a turn missing). We have the cake and another dessert on the list of goodies being brought by members. If you plan on bringing something to share, include that in your RSVP and it can be posted so we can let each other know. We will also accept any donations to keep costs down if you feel particularly worn out with all the holiday baking and cooking. Or, just bring yourselves! Good people, good food, fun awards and BIG checks to the VA Bred Appaloosa Award winners! You don’t want to miss it.
The VaApHC would like to announce that the Va Horse Industry Board has again awarded us with a grant to continue our Va Bred Appaloosa Award! Thank-you Horse Industry Board!

The Hoof Clinic with Paige Poss was great! We’d like to make this an annual thing, we learn so much from Paige. The weather was perfect for sitting outside and talking horses, Paige is an excellent speaker who truly enjoys teaching. You can see pictures from the clinic in our online photo album under the Photo tab (ignore the date, pictures are from Sept 11). Thank you Paige and thank you Roxanna and Gordon for hosting.
The photo album has been updated with some pictures of the Day at Kelly’s Ford meeting, lunch and ride; and a few members enjoying a ride and swim with their horses at Lake Anna over the Labor Day weekend.

Hoof Clinic: On Saturday Sept 11, we will again be hosting a hoof clinic with Paige Poss of www.ironfreehoof.com. For those that came last year, we are still talking about the great clinic she put on and all we learned about the hoof, lower leg structures and seeing hoof balance. Whether your horses are barefoot or shod you will find it interesting. The clinic will be held in Unionville. Contact Sharon for details and to sign up to attend. Cost will be $40, VaApHC members $25.
Saddle Fitting: In October we will be hosting a saddle fitting clinic. Watch this site for details.
Green Horse problem horse clinic: working on a fall clinic.

It was good to see everyone at Kelly’s Ford for our get-together! The ride turned out great, the weather cooperated, and we had a great group of horses and riders. We enjoyed a break in the temperatures, the rain held off and it was a great ride along picturesque streams, country lanes, pastures and a few hills to challenge us. We ended the day with tubing down the Rappahanock – which was more comic relief than adventure – as we pushed and dragged our tubes over the rocks in the low water, laughing all the way! (we’ll have to return after a rain)
There was a productive meeting where it was approved to donate $200 to the USERL (U.S. Equine Rescue League) to aid them in their work caring for the recent Virginia Horse cases.
We thanked all our sponsors and workers for making our Judged Trail Ride a success. With the support of so many members and local business we were able to again offer great prizes to our riders. Watch your upcoming newsletter and this site for updates on our sponsors.
